Teksi Tunai - Nada & Emira

“Jaz! Flip your channel to ASTRO PRIMA now, weih!
You wouldn’t believe this.
They’re freakin hilarious!”

I hung up the phone and immediately switched on the television.

The show:

TEKSI TUNAI (Cash Cab)

It’s a show where Bob Lokman (host) drives a cab as a normal guy.
But whoever gets in the cab, passengers, will get the chance of gaining some cash by answering some random questions.

It’s not a show that I’d normally watch,
but this time, it features my ex-schoolmates-
Nada Assilah and Emira.

And if you know Nada and Emira,
then you’ll know that putting these two together can bring some sheer hilarity into any situation.

I couldn’t remember details by details, but here’s as much that I can recall.

Some questions:

• Please complete the saying, “Don’t bite the hand that _____.”

NAD & EM:
Eh? I got no clue about this.

[Both of them took their phone and called for their father (Emira) and mother (Nada)]

BOB:
Wow, both of them are calling someone?
One is calling their father and another is calling the mother.
These are very smart kids!
Hah, pandai budak-budak ni!

NADA:
(waiting for her mother to pick up)
…. Ala, mama! Pick up the phone Pickupthephone.
Asal la masa ni jugak mama tak angkat?!?!
Why now of all times that she’s not picking it up?!?!

… Hello, ma!
…… Voice box?
M-Mama reject call saya!
M-Mom rejected my call!

• Who is David Bowie’s wife?

[Emira called her dad again]

NADA:
Ah! I see some Americans over there!
Let’s stop by and ask if they know the answer!

Excuse me mister! Do you know who’s David Bowie’s wife???

AMERICAN:
(apparently shocked seeing a girl sticking her head out of a cab’s window shouting about David Bowie)
N-No!
(shaking his head furiously)

What I’ll always find amusing though,
is their excitement when cash are flashed out in front of them.

Reaction 1:

“(Squeals) AHHHH!!! Asjaojdjiaosrqw?!?!”

Reaction 2:

Took the money and flashed it grinningly to the camera.

Reaction 3:

By the time they are RM300 richer,
they used the RM50 notes as tissues and wiped off their sweats from their face and neck.

Reaction 4:

When Bob told them that the next question is worth RM100,
they squealed like mad and started reassuring each other.

“Babe! 100 ringgit ni, b-babe!”
“I know, babe. Feuh, intense.”

BOB:
Wow, you seem very happy to be receiving some extra cash.

NAD & EM:
Of course we are!
We’re really dried out of cash!
We’re on our way to the bank actually.

By the end of the ride,
they succeeded in getting RM440.

Quite a big sum.
You can literally see their eyeballs turning into $_$

And the typical Nada would never exit a cab without making a closing line:

“OH, TERIMA KASIH GURU!”
“Oh! Thank you dear teacher!”
